My new Rhabdoblatta formosana!

I got about 20 of these from Kyle at Roachcrossing.com about a week ago, and I am loving them! He sent quite a few freebies, and most of the individuals were adults! The adults are quite skittish, and they will bolt out of their container if you do not apply petroleum jelly on the top sides of the container. The nymphs will literately JUMP of your hands if you try to hold them, thankfully the nymphs can't climb smooth surfaces. I am keeping them on a substrate of coconut fiber and long fibered sphagnum moss, and I am keeping them moist. They eat much more than most of my roaches, and a few pieces of dog food can be eaten overnight! An interesting behavior I have noticed is that the adults and the nymphs like to burrow just below the surface of the substrate at daytime, and will come out at night to feed, which sometimes gives the appearance of an empty cage. Today I checked their cage to find that one of my females had given birth! I am quite excited, this is my first roach litter! Unfortunately, the babies are just to small to get good pictures with my camera, but I might be able to get a video of them. Here are some pictures of the adults, (and one pic of a larger nymph).

Here is a freshly molted adult

I will keep you guys posted on any new developments with these, hope you guys enjoyed! :)

P.aegyptiaca update

These guys are doing great, they all have molted numerous times, and two of the nymphs have greatly darkened and have doubled in size. Here are some pics!

I have noticed that my picture taking skills have greatly improved since my first posts, which I guess is a side effect of taking lots of pics for this blog! Just an observation. Hope you guys enjoyed! :)

My new Pseudomops septentrionalis!

Just got these guys from Kyle at Roachcrossing.com, 11 nymphs total. This is a really cool little species from the southern US, and the adults are day-active! I fed them a chunk of apple, and a piece of cat food. They seem to prefer the apple by far. Some of the nymphs have a light brown border on their pronotum and thorax, a less stunning version of the adults bright white border, I suppose. Anyway, here are some pics!

And here's a video of them!

I'm gonna have fun breeding these! :) That's it for today, Hope you guys enjoy!

My order arrived!

My Roachcrossing order has arrived, and I am very happy with it! He sent quite a bit of freebie R.formosana, and lots of them were adults! The P.septentrionalis and P.surinamensis also arrived in good shape, and he definitely sent a surplus of the P.surinamensis! I will be posting about my new roaches soon, so stay tuned! :)

Therea regularis update

It's been a while since I posted about these guys, they have been doing good! Some of them have molted a few times, and they are all eating good. They like to stay at the bottom of the cage, and they all like to stay close to each other, it's pretty cute! Got some pics to show you guys, tried to get better ones than last time!

Apparently the name "Orange domino roach" applies to both the adults and the nymphs! Anyway, that's it for today, hope you guys enjoyed! :)

My rose hair tarantula

My Chilean rose hair tarantula, Rosie, was my first pet invertebrate. I got her a little over 5 years ago. She was approximately 2 years old then, and was medium sized, for a tarantula. Now, over 5 years later, she's a bit of a beast! She eats crickets, and deformed darkling beetles, when I have them. She absolutely refuses to eat Eleodes larva or superworms, I guess because they feel quite different from crickets, which has been her staple diet her whole life. She is docile when she's not hungry, and will usually let me handle her without a fuss. I have yet to be bit by her, and I hope to keep it that way, lol! Here are some pics of her!

(Better lighting in these two pics)

These guys have been reported to live up to 20 plus years, so hopefully I will have Rosie for a long time to come! Anyways, as always, hope you guys enjoyed! :)
